I suspect it's under the carpet because there isn't much room between the carpet and the bottom of the seat. Anyone know the size of the speaker?
I know for sure in some of the 04-08 models that the subwoofer is not under the carpet. I've never heard of one being under the carpet. Are you sure you have it?
I know I have the Audiophile sound system. I don't know as an absolute that I have the subwoofer and the reason I was inquiring as to its location. Doesn't the Audiophile come with the sub?
OK, OK, I'm learning. Now that I see it, I can see the humor in my question. But not having seen one...... No, I don't have it. I'm not real sad about it because I was going to change the door speakers anyway. But I would like a subwoofer.
Does anyone know if the premium sound system w/6 CD changer and satellite radio would have the plug to install the factory subwoofer, or is it a different head unit altogether?
yeah you need the Audiophile head unit with 3 plug-ins. Yours probably has 2 plugs. The 3rd plug is usually in the dash taped to the main radio harness, you should find it if you take your radio out and look back there.
as far as the sub/amp, you have to have the plug under your back seat. In that picture I posted, on the rear driver's side, look behind that black seat bracket and look for a slit in the carpet on the floor. reach in that slit and see if you find a harness plug. If yes, then that's for the sub/amp. Most Lariat's seem to have the plug under there so there's good chance yours does. My FX4 did not so I went with an aftermarket sub/amp setup.
I found the slit in the carpet, but I don't feel a plug. I lifted up the panel on the rear door and there are a lot of wires running to the rear of the cab. I'll fish around in there tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
there's a computer module mounted on the back of the cab wall back there called the body control module (BCM), so alot of those wires are probably for that. Make sure you reach in that slit as far as you can (towards the cab wall), sometimes the sub harness might be tied back in there.
I've got a '05 FX4 and the plug for the sub was in my truck. You just have to feel around in that slit in the back seat. The plug that's in the dash is taped up and you can't miss it when you pull the factory deck out.
