Can anybody reading this thread tell me what all is needed to do this?I know I need the harness, and the cab lights, and I know I need to drill holes making sure I measure 1,000 times and cut once. But do I have to drill holes on the inside of the cab?And where do I need to run the harness?Behind the A-pillar molding?Or inside the A-Pillar?I've used the search function, and there's a thousand threads on this, but there really isn't any for 80-86 F-Series that answers my questions. If you can find a thread I may have overlooked,it'd be greatly appreciated.
The roof is two-ply; I've never done this but I'd suspect the wiring would run between the
plies, then down the windshield pillar, then route down to the vent/kick panel where the
connector is. Get the parts, take apart your interior trim, and figure it out.
All I can suggest is just make a note of what you see...which pillar, which parts, hole size, etc. As I recall, the inner roof sheet metal isn't touched, but you can verify that when you remove the lights. The light fixture and lens and gasket all come off together. I'm thinking the harness may be anchored against some metal instead of flopping around, may entail rempving the front of the roof headliner, but I'd start from the top. Good luck.
Thanks ya'll.I'm just wantin to know what to expect when I go out to get it all.My truck is a factory non-headliner truck for now,so that's not a worry.
Go to a junk yard and take measurement from a F-2-350, write them down. When you get your lights, position the on your roof; measuring and double checking. Once right, use a sharpie and mark the two screw holes (Using Self-Tapping Screw) (Not Included) onto the paint. Then drill a larger hole between the two holes, run your wire to the lights, screw the lamp on with the weather strip (Included with pepboys kit) Tighten, and you should be done on the roof. Next, run your wire down to where you decide to conect to. (Going Down The A-Pillar)

I can take pictures if you want me too
That's already what I was gonna do.I recently put a cargo light on my truck,so I had to do all of that for it.I'm just looking for someone whose done this conversion before to see if they ran into any problems.I'm connecting the harness to the factory plug that's already in the truck.I was scanning the galleries yesterday, and it seems like i'll be one of the few people on here that will have cab lights on an 80-83 F100.
The pillar wires run along the pillar underneath the trim, not inside it. They do run inside the roof though, but come out near the pillar. Looking at the truck I got my lights from, I am gonna try using smaller holes. It seems the original holes are 2-3 times larger than they need to be to fit the plugs through, but I imagine it would be easier feeding the wire across the roof with larger holes.

Thanks Alot man. That's what I was lookin for. Will i need to do the whole coat hanger thing to run the harness through it kinda like a dome light? And are the holes in the roof circular?
"few people on here that will have cab lights on an 80-83 F100."
I think my F150 is the only one I've seen with factory lights.
Soon after I took delivery of it, I noticed it had the bigger lug wrench for the F350, so I had it swapped. I assume the guy on the assembly line saw the lights on top and thought.... OneTon!

CDF302 has them on his F150.They're still rare on F150's,but I see alot more on F150's then F100's.lol.I searched through every single page of 80-83 F100's,and didn't see a single truck with them.
Mine had a different lug wrench too.Completely wrong size. But my truck was a farm truck,so it might have been somethin the Previous owner did.
what about getting cab lights from TSC and wiring them into a circuit with a common ground and a common hot and tie them into that brown wire?
I'm trying to stay away from rewiring anything on the truck.I'm adding options that were offered for the truck, but the previous owner didn't order.Everything is plug and play,I just have to drill the holes.
I know you were I was just wondering if it could be done that way since none of the juinkyards around here have any f-150's with the cab lights in tact. I dont mind the wiring and mounting locations altho I do prefer 3 in the center and one on each corner

Oh okay I see.lol.Sorry I misread the post. But that sucks you can't find a decent set.I hope I don't run into that problem. But i've got three-four yards to choose from,so hopefully one will have an unmolested set.Maybe you could try Pep-Boys or another aftermarket company that produces them?
