E-check needed?

I'm considering buying a 78 Bronco with headers and side pipes but no catylitic converters. Will it pass an Ohio E-check inspection? Thanks

No, not if it originally had a cat. E-check includes a visual inspection for presence of a catalytic converter. If it has been removed, you fail regardless of actual tailpipe emissions.

E-check needed?

I guess what I really wanted to know was if this year bronco could have come without a cat. It did not say "unleaded only" anywhere it usually does. Thanks again

I believe after 74 anything under 3/4 ton had to have cats. Except the 74-79 F-150's. But I do not know what the broncos rating is. But I would venture to say that it originally had cats under it.

1988 F-150, SWB, 5.0 EFI (formerly 4.9 EFI), M5OD 5 speed, 3.08 gears, Summit shorty truck headers, Custom built Flowmaster exhaust system. Force 4 LP6000 lightbar, Federal signal PA-300 100 watt siren, Icom IC-V100 50 watt mobile radio.
=======================================
1965 F-100 (just purchased 1/18/01), SWB, 390, C-6 auto. Dual exhaust, Not much else to do to it.

Can see both below.

78 Broncos had no cats....I don't know what your inspecters will say about the sidepipes, but I wouldn't think it should make a diference.

I have a '78 bronco that did'nt come with cats. I used to have to take the bronco through emissions, and they would look under it with a mirror to see if it had cats. Every time, i told them it did'nt come with them, they would get there little book out and look up my truck and " it did'nt come with them ". Man, that used to aggreivate me. Any way good luck, i hope you buy it, i sure love mine. Fixing to put a lift under it. Have a good one. Rob
