Nice looking rig, it looks ready to work.
Ya, a fun time but ya get used to it........
Just wait till you have to do that in the rain, in the mud! Luckily I`ve never had to and let`s hope you don`t either.
I do remember some cold days when I had to do the occasional small repair or two on one of my trucks.
You been away, I noticed less of your posts than usual........
You got er Sherm! Im just glad i had that damn pipe kicking around! Could you imagine trying to take off dirty lug nuts, that were torqued down to 500 ft lbs with a 3/4 ratchet set?!
Not sure why i havent been posting as much, not like Ive been really super busy doing much, lots of outside fooling around since its warmed up though. Been doing lots of little things on the dump truck and the backhoe, trying to get a jump start on having them ready for spring time.
It sucks without a shop and all my tools though haha.
The time to look around is now, there seems to be some smokin` clearance type deals in the Western Producer.
I see one local supplier advertising half price on galvanized sheeting, $.45 a square ft.
You do know that truck is one big air compressor. 1 inch impact I dunno but I have used a 3 eights impact off of my dads old IH grain truck air brakes.
With a 3/4-1'' air impact and the truck air supply it should work fine even if it`s a little slower than what your used to.......Time for a trip to Princess Auto soon.
A truck just doesnt produce enough flow for a big impact like that. They like the air!
It would turn the impact over, but it would operate very slow and weak, like someone was pinching the air line on ya.
If my dads old IH has enough power I think your Western Star should have enough, Cause what the compressor is 15 or so cfm and 10 litres of storage at 120psi. I believe.
There is the specs on a 1 inch impact. The problem that a person would run into is it would run out of air too fast to keep the working pressure up. Those compressors arent designed to put out constant pressure that is needed for high air useage.
You would need at least a half inch hose (3/4 preferred) and that would suck the air out of your trucks system you would hardly get a chance to turn a lugnut.
We had two huge compressors at the tire shop, and when ya did a set of ten on a tandem truck, and ya gave er a little bit, you would have to stop once in awhile to let the air build back up a little.
Theres a whole lot of air needed to budge a lugnut (let alone ten for one wheel).
