Heres a way to think of it. Next time your in your truck at work, step on the brakes a few times in a row, and keep doing that with the truck running.

That would simulate what an impact would be like!

I see you got a busted stud there. I really wish I didn't see that.

So what were you up to?

That 3/4" posted by Snowking was rated for 350 lb/ft. The lugs are torqued to 500.

And, to finish off, there isn't enough air in the system to run a 1" gun. If it were me, I'd be using a spline drive anyway.

That means there would be no air pressure in a hurry.......So it`s time to buy a big air compressor in time for your new shop this summer.

Hey my truck may not have enough air but Ill bet you that my old little tractor with its attached air compressor has MORE then enough air pressure to power any impact you can find.

Yep Joe, i just replaced two of the studs. One was busted, and the other was fairly close, so I replaced two of them.

Whats a spline drive? (not familiar with that term)

You got er right Morris! I forgot to thank you for the advice for checking in the western producer, gonna get one tomorrow and check it out!

And yep Ryan, you get that tractor up and working, and that thing will produce air!!

It's like a 1" drive, but it's got a #5 spline coupler instead of the 1" square.

Oh yeah, I know what your talking about now. Yes those are deadly. We tried talking the boss into one of those back then, and he turned it down. I dont know how many times we had to send both of the square drive impacts away, at the same time, to get fixed due to the square end on the shaft rounding out.

I gotta hand it to NAPA though, they lent us an impact each time, and in the end we ended up buying it from them, and it worked not bad!

Truck is almost ready for safety too I have to change out 4 stems in the drive tires (very slow leaks) and they I should be good to go!

I sure wish I had a torque wrench that torqued up to 500 lbs though. I have a pretty good feel for around where that is, but still. Shes gonna be a slow trip into town and straight to the tire shop to get them torqued up when Im all done!

Lol You have that right too Morris But I would rather take it slow and not have my wheels fall off

I know they wouldnt fall off, but Id rather just be careful till I got them torqued down by a proper torque wrench

Just tighten the wheel bolts using the long pipe and drive, if you feel like it check them again down the road. You`ll be fine if you get them tight before you take off, remember your not carrying a load.

Yeah thats what i did. Like I mentioned, I have a pretty good feel for around 500 ft lbs. But at the same time, I like doing things proper!

I might have to take it into town anyways to get a few of the valve stems changed on the drives, I dont have all the proper tools and whatnot out here, so Ill just get te guy to torque down everything! They hate that, but who cares, i had to do that for guys too haha.

The part I hated was the re-torque.

We'd always tell the driver to come back in a couple days, but they'd rarely ever come in. When one did come in, I'd be neck deep in the middle of something else, all by myself, and I'd have to go and re-torque it for them.

Yeah I know what ya mean Joe! What I really hated, is when they would stand there and watch, and not offer to lend a hand! I did get pretty quick and torquing all alone, but if ya have someone to hold the extension, it made it that much faster.

Oh, what about the stupid lug nut covers. I hate them all. Metal, plastic, screw on, push on, they all suck.
