Transfer case motor
HI EVERYONE THIS THING IS MAKING ME CRAZY I BOUGHT A NEW OR REBUILT DORMAN MOTOR IT WORKED TWICE THEN GOT STUCK IN 4 WD LOW THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE ORIGINAL MOTOR THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT FROM HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY SO THEY ARE SENDING ME A NEW ONE . BUT SINCE THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE ORIG. I AM THINKING THAT MAYBE THE DASH SWITCH MAY BE BAD IS THERE ANYWAY TO CHECK THE SWITCH , I CHECKED THE 30 AMP FUSE AND THE JEWEL/ RELAY AND THEY ARE ALL OK, ANY SUGGESTIONS . WHEN I TESTED THE WIRES THAT PLUG INTO THE MOTOR WITH A 12 V TEST LIGHT I DIDNT GET ANY LIGHT BUT I DIDNT KNOW IF THE SWITCH HAD TO BE TURNED TO HAVE A PULSE THREW THE WIRE OR IF IT IS ALWAYS HOT THANKS FOR ANY HELP DAN

There is a relay or 2 near the brake fluid reservoir under a black cover about 1" by 2". Take the cover off and you will see them. Both are the same with 5 blades. THe part number is F0AB-14B192-AA. I ended up replacing both, cost about 25.00 for both. IT works great now. My problem was the 4x4 would not disengage. I tried the motor with no luck, then the switch, same thing. Frustrated I started a thread either under Excursions or Superduty section and Krewat (sp?) helped me out with pictures. You might try a search in either section under transfer case and see if you can find the thread. It was last fall. Good luck
