Gents I appreciate the help on locating the diagnosis wire for the ABS module. I was able to perform the test by grounding the wire. The result is 12 flashes this is including the long last one. 11 quick flashes and 1 long one at the end for a total of 12. I looked this up in my 97 manual and it states the following:
DTC 12 - "Loss of Hydraulic brake fluid during an anti lock stop"
This truck Im testing is a 96 so Im hoping the codes are same as the 97. I dont get what this is telling me. There is no visible brake fluid anywhere and the reservoir is always completely full. Can someone help me with this code? I have not bleed the brakes so Im thinking that should be mt first step. Anybody had any experience with this code, if so how do you solve it? thanks as usual. Maxx
Ok, I had the same code with mine. I replaced the ABS unit and the sensor. Master cylinder has plenty of brake fluid in it. So I got to looking for the fluid level sensor. It has 3 wires coming out of it; black yellow and green. It is on the bottom of the fluid resivoir. Mine looked to be okay until I wiggled the wires. The green and yellow were broke off inside the plug and the black was horribly corroded. I replaced the terminals inside the plug. Autozone has the terminals. They are in the isle with the bulbs and other electrical. It will say either Ford Terminal Assortment or just Terminal Assortment on the package. Once I replaced the terminals my light went off. Hope this helps.
I did take a look at the connector. It looked fine, I went ahead and cleaned it also. Put it back together and still the ABS light was on. Yesterday I cranked the truck up and the ABS stayed off?? Drove it all day and light remained off. Dont know what happened but for now the light is off! Still have no horn and cruise! Working on that. maxx
