April G2G

Well since our honorary Kansan from Wyoming is going to be passing through the first part of April I thought may we could do something a little special... A Spring "Whatever" Weekend... I'd call it Camp Shoot and Wheel but that name is already taken :-)

We could have something at Tuttle... which isn't too far off of I 70 - OR we could rent the hunting lodge in Jewell (For dirt cheap) which would also have everything fishing, Meals, shooting range, and I bet Curt knows of a place to wheel.... Something for everyone.

Or we could have it at Lovewell lake Up in Northern Jewell County. (1 Hour south of I-80) Good Camping (Free on one side of the lake, Lower level facilities) Or pay sites on the other side with electrical etc etc. I have 40 acres (a pasture with a creek running through it) where we could also camp, shoot, Maybe even wheel a little - -ect ect ect It's out in Booneyville... It's Mine and Troys (Basically) so its what ever we want to do - I just thought I would offer. I know an absolutlely AWSOME place to eat up there and they have a party room. (Duane and Clint know the place)

I am just trying to get some ideas flowing. Last part of April is the AR trip, So I will be strapped for cash but something fun can be arranged --I'm sure. Michelle is driving a long ways out of her way to see us, we should make it worth her while :-)

Man I am in the same place with Chad. I'm doing what I can ta get Green ready fer my Utah trip. I will try to be back on the 4th of April for an event. And a lot depends on how that trip goes(if'n someone has ta come out and drag me home again ur not). But on the plus side all the camp'n gear n such will be loaded up. Little bit of Utah sand won't hurt nothin.

Hey, I could possibly be in the area for this if things go right,
but I won't have anything with me like either truck, any kind
of camping equipment and if I did have any guns I'm rather
certain the airlines would not allow me on with them so it
would just be little ole me.

We have 3 ponds on the pasture near Jewell - one is the kiddy pond drop in a hook and wham catch a 2" fish --- one is the icky pond - nothing but moss -- and one is the spring fed pond I've pulled out a couple 3 1/2 to 4 pounders.

Tutlle might be a better place to wheel though.. Curtis and I where talking and the areas up near home are pretty small... Tuttle always has some mud.

Well if'n ya want ta camp I have an extree burlap sack. I kin stuff it with some grass and it make a right nice bed. If'n yer not too tall ya kin sleep in Green or Jr. I used ta do that but I'm old an my bones don't like me crawling in and bending ta get up in and back out in the mornin. An some time it's a bit wet in there if'n it rains. I have a couple of tents but not sure if they will be used.

Guess we need a head count on folks as to who is gonna camp and what all is available. I have 2 and maybe a third tent. 6 sleeping bags. Clint has ta work the weekend of the 4th. He is off Easter weekend. And then works again on the weekend of the 18th. And he has plans on the following weekend of the 25th. So if he doesn't make it then Jr. won't be there unless someone wants to drag it up. And if Garrett goes I'll need a place fer him ta sleep. If Clint goes he has slept in his truck.

Course Randolph has it's Bate's Motel. Not much ta look at but is not hard on the wallet. And Manhattan has all the good chain motels and hotels if folks want ta do that. It's about 40 minutes away from the campground.

An I might have a extree shoot'n iron if folks want ta bust some caps. We need to check n see when the range will be open though. They are not open every weekend.

I know about the old bones believe me and have slept in both my trucks. Have to say the big Bronco was much more comfortab,le than the BII. It just isn't wide enough and the seatbelts kept stabbing me in the back. I guess it all depends on when you guys actually wind up having it at this point but would love to be there if possible.

Stinky mud isn't a problem either I go up to a friend of mines house and hit some puddles there. It use to be a cow pasture.

I made a board. Ya fold the passangers side front seat all the way forward. I remove the rear seat bottoms. One end of the board sets in the v made in the back of the front seat hinge when it was folded forward. I put a 2 x 4 on the underside of the board and when I fold the rear seat back forward it catches on that 2 x 4 and I push down and it locks it all in place. The Explorer will do the same but the opening is smaller so I just pile stuff like 12 paks of pop in the hole. I'm a short guy. Only bout 5'7" so's I kin pile stuff up on the drivers side and sleep on the passangers side. Others would need ta clear more stuff out and sleep caddy corner.

I bought one of those big boy cots from Cabella's. Might have to try it out. The motel room is kinda small at the Randolph Hilton though. Might just leave the cot at home. lol
