quicklook is right, get it pressure tested. even if you cant see the leak right now, it will become apparent when the pressure is applied. The fact that it quits leaking when it warms up says it probably a loose hose clamp some where.
I don't know why I though a heater hose went back there, must be my medication. Both heater hoses are forward of the intake. It's got to be the intake leaking, there's just nothing else back there. I already fixed the heater hose leak due to a loose worm clamp at the heater core.
That leak was right under the heater core. This one coming from rear center and i don't see anything leaking up front that could be running back.
hey buddy if you have access to a pressure tester use it-quicklooks2 is right -when the motor runs it is very hard to see a leak! but not running and cold easy!or easier! good luck---good call quicklooks2! would have been my 1st suggestion!hope he gets it straight!
I know nothing of this "pressure testing", I'm assuming that would require someone else to touch the truck which doesn't happen, unless it's a tire/wheel guy. I've done all my own machanicin' since I was a teenager. I'm not meaning that statement in a bad way or anything toward anyone.
Let's say I took it to be pressure tested, you still can't get back there behind that intake in no mans land to see the leak anyways, or am I just way off base?
It doesn't leak when it's hot, so it would need to be tested when it's cold.
I'm almost sure if I popped of that upper plenum I'd be able find whatever it is. I'm not seeing any crossover tube back there that i can tell. i guess I could rig my own cap or maybe you can buy one to put some pressure on the system while it's cold and I have the plenum off.
I'm still trying to find the mystery exhaust leak on a daily basis as well.
