i just got a 2003 ford expedition that was a police car. it has a bad 5.4
in it. what im thinking is that i want to turn it into a hunting rig. i have a complete carbed 351w drive train. what i need to know is if there might be some kind of kit out there for the mounts or am i just going to have to make my own. and if any budy has any tips that would help.
and yes i know that i should just leave it as a 5.4 but i only paid 500 for the rig and i want to keep it cheap since im just going to hunt out of it
thanks bruce
i imagine it will be a fab as you go. You should check local laws most legal swaps have to be same year or newer. but a 351 on a manual trans would be some options that would tempt me to do something to my 03.
If the running gear is good and only the engine is bad you will have a lot fewer headaches by going to a U-Pull It yard and getting a stock 5.4 and plugging it in. You will then be able to have fun driving and riding rather than working your a** of on it. Just remember; things always go bad when you need it to go good the most. Thats something like Murphys law but different.
i agree with the previous post especially since Murphy's law means that you'll get pulled over on some public road between home and wherever you hunt and the resulting fix-it ticket will be a nightmare...
