Tire Choice

Hey guys,

What is a good tire in a 305 or 315 size to put on one of these trucks. This is the first big 4wd truck i've got to really do anything.

Want something with good all around traction and that will hold a little weight. Gonna pull hay with a gooseneck this summer and our 24ft box trailer about 9000 lbs. But in kentucky are weather is all over the place. Some good snow in the winter and rains in the spring pretty good. Dry in summer and fall.

What ru all running and a rough mileage guess. I'd be willing to pay a little more if they'd last longer.
Thanks.

I'm running a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on the back of my 88 and so far I like them really well, now true mine are only 295/75's

I've also had really good experiences with Toyo open countries, they are on 3 trucks on a ranch I work for, now granted those are all 265/75's but I bget they would be good in a 305 size. They seem to hold up the weight of stock trailers with little problems

I've looked at nitto's. One of my buddies had them on his duramax. He pulled it and drove it on the street. They're only 285's on stock rims. Also the price seemed pretty good as well.

I have the 315/16 BFG All Terrain's on mine. The first set lasted about 70K miles. I have 20K on these so far. They wear really well, have decent road manners with or without a load and the off road traction is good. Won't be confused for a "serious" mud tire, but they do ok. They work good in the snow and ice.

So far I love them, and sadly one of the reasons I like them is they say right on the tire "Made proudly in Japan" and I like Japan, much better than China anyway. I wish I could get Made in America tires, but anymore they are almost impossible to find and way overpriced.

Ok narrowed down between Nitto Terrra Grapplers in 305's or Mastercraft A/T's. Both are around 180 per tire.
What r ur opinions on mastercraft tires?

Wow your fuel mileage must totally suck if you can't keep it under 90 on the interstate.

Ghunt, I'm thinking like you, but I'm wonder what gears do they have be able to run 90. If I asked my 88 to run over 75 I am met with the govenor.
