This is a Ford F-150 board for sure but I would just like to pass along what the competition is charging for their products. An 09' Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Sport 4X4:
You and others here have made mention of the Ram and its new design. They aren't bad. No F-150 but the price you quoted is going to give the heads honchos at Ford a headache if not a migraine. You know lower prices for an alike product is what consumers thrive on. And I think these lower prices makes for tough sledding for the other truck entities. 80% of sticker so early in the new year ain’t a bad price.
Actually, here in DC they are offering a '08 2500 4x4 mega cab w/ cummins automatic that was 43,000 at the discount price on 25,000. With loyalty (3,000) Military/college (1,000) and a down payment/trade of 1,000 or more, you could have that truck theoretically for under $20k.
Dodge doesnt enjoy the loyalty people have for Ford trucks. As long as I can remember Ford has always outsold Dodge about two to one. Checking last months sales number it still holds true. Dodge really has to pull out the stops to sell trucks. Most people are Chevy or Ford loyal. Dodge doesnt enjoy the loyalty off those two brands. Dodge would really have to step up in there build quality before I would ever consider one. An what I can see that has not happened. In all the years I have had Ford trucks they have never left me stranded or had a mechanical breakdown off any kind. Pretty well problem free. Thats why I see no reason not keep buying them. Resale value will be always tons better on a Ford then a Dodge.
I just came out of a 2007 Dodge QC 2500 Cummins for a 2009 F-150. I looked at the 2009 Dodge 1500 and found it was cheaper than the 2007 which was half the truck of 2001 Ram. I looked at the Ford and found that the built was very close to a 1994 F-150 I had. Other than the sheet metal, which everybody has lighten, the rest of the truck felt and drove solid. So in my driveway is a brand new 2009 F-150 and I love it. I also liked that Ford has stated they will try to weather the storm on their own and not take Washington blood money (our blood). Ford is showing that they are truly an American Company that thinks like Americans should. Enough soapboxing. You will love the F-150. Chris

Welcome back dude! Preach on. Since the introduction of the '09 model year, I've seen one '09 Ram on the road and 2 '09 F-150's on the road. I don't think Ford is going to give this truck away yet.
When my timing is right in 2010, I will most definately be swayed by Ford dealer incentives, cash back offers and anything else I can get my hands on. 2010 could be another big year for inventory reductions / incentives as the new engines will be looming on the horizon.

Do you have a link to the dealership offerring this deal? I might be interested. Used diesel Megacabs cost a lot more than $20k around here.

80% of sticker. My point is the competition has already heated up and Ford MUST "answer" to offers like this.
I just priced out an FX4 supercab (same size rear seat as Dodge's quadcab) and got the invoice down to 34K with leather seats and 20" wheels. Subtract 3k and it comes out almost 2k cheaper than the Dodge.
I just priced out a similar truck from Dodge and came out with a 35.3k invoice then -2k in incentives (may be regional) from that puts you at 33.3k.
Looks to me like the comparable Ford is already a little cheaper. You don't get the heated steering wheel with the Ford though.
In my area (colorado) the competition has much better incentives AND 0% financing on '09's. Hopefully Ford will offer more about mid-month when their annual Ford Truck Days sale comes around. If not, there won't be an F150 in my driveway for awhile. Sales for January were dismal...and they included sales of highly discounted '08's. Imagine how few they will sell this month now that all the 08's are gone (there's only 1 "new" 2008 in all of Colorado and it is a souped up Roush edition at $53k marked down to $39K).
