5th Wheel + V10?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone is towing a fifth wheel with their V10. My 2008 has 4.30 gears and should be up to the challenge, but I would like to get some opinions.

i have a 08 FX4 f250 with a V10 and i tow a 28 foot 5th wheel with no problems at all. i get around 9 mpg with towing speeds of 60 to 65.the 5th wheel trailer is around 8500 lbs give or take a bit. you will find towing with plenty of power is a good thing.

Good to know, I currently tow a 33' travel trailer (not sure of the weight) with no problems. I was just curious about the 5'ers since you rarely see anyone tow one with a v10.

Towed my 11k fiver with my 2000 which is lower rated than the 2008 without any problems. Lots of power even up 8 and 11 per cent grades. Sold that unit for a 16000 pound fiver and hauled it over the mountains to its permanent parking spot without a hitch. I would love to get a 2008 - 2009 then I would be wintering down south.

5er Towing with V-10

I have a 99 F-250 SD V-10 Super Cab 2 wheel drive and I pull a 12,000 pound 34 foot 5th wheel without any problem. I mostly get around 8 mpg towing and 12.5 not. The V-10 has plenty of power....!

I have a 2000 F350 V10 Auto 4x4 4:30 and tow 30' 13,000# Fifth Wheel. It does quite well. I'd like to have the newer 3V motor and Auto but this truck works so well can't see spending all that loot. Go for it. No need for diesel unless towing full time and I'm still not sure about that.

We are towing a 36' feet 5th wheel with our 05 V10. Tows just has good as our 7.3L we use to have. Just use your tow / haul mode and you should be good to go.. We get around 8 to 8.5 mpg...but I am heavy footed.
Happy V10'ing...

Mike

I have a '05 with the same gears, pull a 12.5 K 5th Wheel, went across the US and back with it. You will really like the gas motor for the downhill parts even more than the uphill. With the compression of this engine and the Tow Command, its much better than the diesel which I had previously. Around 8 mpg.

I have a 2001 V10 which I thought could tow anything till I bought our 28' fifth wheel now I'm wanting a diesel. A few weekends ago I went over a couple 8% grades and it was all I could do to maintain 35 mph wound tight at 4500 rpm. My truck has 35" tires and 4:56 gears but I thought it should have pulled a little better uphill. I couldn't get out of 2nd gear.

'08 F350 , V10 w/4,10 rears - pulls our 14K RV without problem, the previous '05 F250 w/5.4 couldn't quite hack it.
