With a high-altitude large grade pull the V10 isn't going to be the horse those of us have in lower altitude regions have, The air is pretty thin at 7/8000 feet and without some sort of extra air charging (supercharger or turbo) you won't be making anywhere near the same power at altitude.

I tow a 8000 lb bumper pull toy hauler with my 01 2V V 10. It's towing ability is relative.
It pulls better than my 84 460, which pulled better than my 76 390, but not as good as my next Ford which will probably be a diesel. My 01 refuses to wear out, which makes it real hard to justify a new truck!

Friend of mine has a concrete biz and has two V10 superduties with around 300k on each truck and pulls goosenecks loaded with everything from concrete forms to excavating equipment. Lots and lots of heavy hauling, hes had no problems with either truck.
