5.4L noisy

5.4L noisy

05 f250 5.4litre when it is cold it is normal but once it warms up it ticks a little. Is this normal? oil is clean and full.

mine did that constantly till I got new cylinder heads (warranty). It did it once afterwards during warm up, haven't heard it since. Have it checked out. Mine was from scarred cylinders.

It could be the cam phasers... there is a TSB. I had mine replaced under warranty back in June. The truck only had 24K miles.

Could also be a bad/failed roller bearing in a follower(rocker arm).

If it sounds like it's a diesel, then its probably the cam phasers. It won't do any harm, just noisy.

I agree with it being the cam phasers, they are known for being noisy in the 5.4 3v motors. If you rev the motor up above 1200rpm and the tick goes away then its the cam phasers.
