i'm trying to find the gear ratio for my 78 f250 4x4,front and back.i,m sure i have a dana 60 in the front.not sure about the back as it came out of a 65f250.its got a 400m in it with a c6 trans.can anyone help?
There should be a small metal tag on diff with the info you need if not tear that sucker apart and count the teeth on ring and pinion . Take the number of teeth on ring and divide by number of teeth on pinion
its would appear that the truck has been modified so with this in mind, you cant count on anything being accurate.
Pull the inspection covers (both front and rear) take a count and verify that you do nt have any problems in the diffs. This should be a normal part of any inspection process. The plus side is that your diffs will get a fresh shot of gear oil.
You would be suprised at how nasty most diffs are.
Pull the covers, and you wont be guessing at anything, you will know for sure, and you can verify the overall condition.
