Diffenatly the truck door, ive had two body shops quote me at $1500 for painting and all that on a salvaged door! Since it still closes im waiting until i find a black door so i can just swap it on.
Introducing the 'marshmallow' aka the 'Michelin Man' as the family refers to my ride.
The are more pictures in my Gallery.
I'm hoping I can fit Michelin XDE2+ 285/70R/19.5 M+S (10.9" by 35.4") without adding any additional lift to the van, nor trimming of the cab's sheet metal.
I don't have any qualms about opening up the fiberglass for the box-body.
The conversion rims are available through Rickson Truck Wheels and so too are the Michelins.
After I saw this thread I went looking for pictures and realized that I don't have any of my new truck, just a boat load of my '79. My wife had taken a couple with her cell phone on the long trip home from the dealer at a rest stop just the CT side of the MA border on 84, so it will have to do for now. If it really hits 50 this weekend I may wash it (again) and take some better ones.
The color looks REALLY bad in this pic
Here is me and my daughter on that same day last April eating something off the back of the truck. The color came through a little better on this one but its still not great.
I will try to get some better ones this weekend if the weather holds out.
For a sagging rear end I presume you are aware of AirLift helper airbags, I used them on my old pickup truck when I went to Alaska, I was about one ton overweight. Firestone also has a airbag helper product too.
Because I have a van, I'll probably go with the Talon replacement (leaf spring delete) air suspension system.
Hellwig also offers an air assist suspension product.
Kelderman offers a leaf spring delete air suspension system too, but their method doesn't appear to adapt well with my van.
Of note though is that Helderman has a front coil spring delete air suspension system too (versus the coil spring air assist bag that goes inside the coil), but be careful with the front air systems as proper pressure (height) is critical else your steering geometry degrades.
yeah, ive been lookin over that stuff. what i really wanna do is replace my 5 leaf pack with the 5 leaf pack and throw an overload spring on top of the factory pack F250/350 style. id be the only one i know to do that to an F150. and we checked out some springs from carquest today. little half springs that go under the leaf pack. im not real crazy about those.
btw, everybodys rigs look great. now im motivated to go wash mine. lol
hmmmm. see i wanna run overloads like that with a new spring pack. thatd be the best option that doesnt involve buying an F250/350. i like his idea, i wish he gave the dimensions out.
