just went out to the truck to warm it up. Luckly my boss let's me plug it in at work, but at school I got to ask to go warm it up every other class... Hopefully I will not have this problem for any longer.
WEll put the new relay n... the old one had different mounting tabs though...
I am still not getting voltage to the drivers side of the GPR. So i traced that wire back to where it goes. and it is on the relay that is on the passenger side fender...
The left post (directly to the battery +12V), it has power. But the right side(rear end side) does not have any power. The part with no power is the place the GPR wire is on. So do I just have a bad solenoid there?
Your first picture is the starter solenoid.
Your second picture is the GPR, You have a Cali emissions engine.
Did you check the voltage on the GPR or the starter solenoid? Did you have the key on when you checked it? The GPR will only have 12 v going on the passengerside, to the GP's, for about 2 minutes then will cycle off so you need to get it checked before that happens.
The Driverside Big post on the GPR should have 12V all the time. It's going directly to the battery.
BTW: You can cross out the 2 big posts on top of the GPR with a screw driver for 30-45 seconds to mimic the GPR working, get in and fire it up. Might get you running when you can't plug it in.
yes it's CO... It's disappointing there is no snow... Hell it's 70 degrees here today..
But yes it's a GPR 109. The drivers side GPR connection goes to the rearward side of the starter solenoid. This would explain no voltage to the GPR. The other side of the solenoid has 12v constantly. So my thoughhts are that the starter solenoid was replaced, and that the GPR was not connected to the correct side. So does anybody have a picture or a starter solenoid? Hope that's my only problem.

Just thought of something, that is protected by a fusible link. You might be able to feel it broken by bending the wire where is is a little fatter than the rest of it. IIRC it's closer to the starter solenoid than to the GPR.
You should be able ohm it to confirm. Does your volt meter have an OHM scale on it?

See if its an open curcuit between the start noid and the GPR? I do have a resistance setting... But it still would not explain why there is no power at the starter solenoid right where the wires from the GPR hook up to...
I think the easiest way is to just get a picture from one of you guys to see how the starter relay is hooked up... and which wires are on which side... Thanks

Well... I have gotten a visual inspection of two other trucks with a 7.3 in it... and my wire is on the opposite side of those two trucks... guess im just going to try and switch it and see what happens!
Hope it works... im going to plug it in at work tonight anyway, but ill test it out tommorow...

So here is my question... Im going to leave my truck unplugged tonight. I dont have to be anywhere tommorow morning, so if it does not start ill just plug it in and wait a few hours.
What is the correct way to start a cold truck? Just turn the Key to the ON position until the Wait To Start light goes out?
