The length of tailpipe is also a huge contributor to sound volume, look at some trucks and cars that have pre axle "dumps", with the exact same setup but out the back it will be much mellower. The theory is that it allows the pressure waves to slow down and expand more before they leave pipes.

I just ordered a Saleen catback dual out the rear setup for my 06 F-150. Hope it sounds good. Got it for $240 delivered. Anybody heard a Saleen exhaust?
