grinding noise
I have a 2005 F250 with 54,000 miles that recently started making a grinding type clicking noise. It reminds me like an old style lockout hub that was not engaging all the way and the teeth were clicking together. I crawled under the truck tonight to look at the u-joints, carrier bearing, and input bearings for the rear end and output on case and every looked good. It sounds like it is coming from under the middle of the truck and does it more when you let off the throttle, or at least that is when you hear it. Starting to think it is in the t-case. It does it in 2 and 4 wheel drive and this does have ESOF. Any ideas or how to diagnose further?
