I have a 2006 F350 diesel and i have a rancho leveling kit on it. Im thinking about getting an 8in lift. Good idea or not? If I go to 8in do i need to get a better drive shaft or longer one? Also any pics of what it would look like with something to compare it to. All ive found are pics of the trucks alone and I cant tell if it'll be high enough. Thanks
8" is a lot of lift, considering your going to be putting on another 3" inches of tire too. This is going to put your tailgate up a foot higher, and your going to have to climb up another foot to get in. I think it's too tall to be useful, but you may have other uses.
The stock rear driveshaft might work, it has enough length where 8" up will not be as significant to the length, but you'll probably have angle issues and very little spline engagement. The front will need quite a bit of work, the angle will be pretty sharp. Since you have to replace the front, you might try for a deal on two shafts.
My 4" with 35s is as tall as I would go. The tail gate is a little higher than I'd like when doing some things, but for the most part it works pretty well. It really comes down to what your going to do with your truck.
8" is definatly big, you can clock the t-case so driveshafts won't be a concern. if this is your daily driver a 6" and 35's or 37"s on thr right wheels will be a much more user friendly for evryday use.
