last night my fog or driving lights.whatever you want to call them stopped working. checked the fuse it is ok. we have been having a lot of wet cold snow & rain. anyone have any ideal what might be wrong?
Check to see if you are getting power at the lamp connector with the switch on. If not, check the relay next to see if it is ok (swap it out with a new). The relay trip power is sent from the marker light circuit to the fog lamp switch; are your marker/running lamps on? If they are and the relay is not the fix it could also be the switch itself. If that's not it you have a broken wire somewhere. Electrical gremlins are tough; you just have to start checking from either end.
Also, there is a secondary relay that will not let them come on with the high beams; they will only work with the low beams (unless you modified the circuit).
Just a wild guess but if they are relatively old bulbs It wouldn't hurt to check them as well. One may have burnt out a short time ago and you never realized it and the other one just went. They typically have the same life span and can both burn out within a relatively short period of time.
Does the fog lamp indicator at the light switch? If not then the problem is at the switch. If it still lights up then the problem is after the switch. As stated above, check at the relay and that can determine which direction to check.
I took my dash apart a few weeks ago to work on the radio. Now Fog lights won't come on. The light at the switch indications that they are on but no lights out front. Fuse is good. Checked the bulbs and they are good.
Where is this relay to check???
