I finished up the ccv mod and the 6637 mod today,All my intake boots were crack free.It was my air box letting the dirt in.I think i might have to mess with the air filter a little more to make shure its not hitting the hood.I also did some "monster garage" to the battery plate to get the filter to fit better.ill let every no how i make out after i drive it a while.
Ill try to get some pics.Wow there is alot more turbo music. You can here every thing that is going on.The only thing i dont like is it is a little noisy crousing at 65 when using about a 1/4 throtle.but other than that i like it.The turbo sounds alot happyer now and it seems like it spools alot faster but it coulb be just me.im glad i did it.
Cool beans on the mods, you will hear more noise under the hood, your truck is breathing alot better. You mentioned about your airbox letting dirt in, how bad and when you did the CCV mod, was there any dirt in the intake tube going to the turbo ?? Did you look at the turbo wheel also for sanding???

My airbox was letting enuff dirt in to make the oil that comes in from the dog house into the intake gritty.I did the ccv mod today when i did the air filter. And the compresser wheel fins had some nicks in them, but not real bad,so i dont think im hurting any thing with wheel in there still.ihope.
it may have put it slightly out of balance (but i doubt it) the reason why he asked if it was blasted, that is a good indication that you have had dust go through your engine. not what you want but youve done the right thing by replacing the filter, just keep an eye on it if blow-by gets excesive then the dust may have done some damage to the rings or cylinder walls...
Sorry for the delay in responding, Josh answered it for you. Proper filtering is critical to these engines and hopefully you took care of the problem soon enough.
After i did all of this,i took the oil fill cap off and i dont have any blow by going on.Just the normall amount to get a little smoke to come out of the oil fill.so i think im good,i hope. time will tell though
