i found the motor swap section on this site after i posted here whoops, uhmm which ever would be easier, 302 sounds fine, i had a 351w, id have to take a look at the junkyard, prolly when it warms up a bit.
not a hard swap did it in a 92 f150 removed 300 installed 351 from a 95 e250 stayed with fuel injection will need mounts that bolt to rear of crossmember that engine sits on radiator inlet and outlets are opposite so it will need replacing you will also need need pcm for v8 other than these items most things bolt right up
i broke the intake manifold on my motor, and cut the egr to get the old intake off, now i cant find a egr pipe. thinking i may just get a v-8 to replace it, the 300 has a little valve knock from cheap oil filters whats pcm?
I tried to get a EGR pipe at the dealer form my 351 and they wanted like $200. I ended up welding my broken one back together. I could not find one at any of the autoparts stores in town either. I would search the junkyards for that part.
on this 300 to 351W swap, do you need to swap any parts of the harness or rewire? I have two trucks that will be recieving two 351W's, and both have donor trucks to go with em...
As long as both engines are odb1 and are from trucks or vans from 1992--1996 you should not need to rewire anything. If the engine is out of a van then the engine harness will be wired for the transmision also.Just use the truck harness for the trans.
Bolt patterns on bell housing of trans should be the same.Dont know about flywheel assy You may have to have a flywheel for the V-8 If the V-8 has a standard behind it already then there should be no problem
id like to do this eventually, i welded the egr pipe and im going to give that a try,
i doubt im going to put too much effort into this 6, if i can just get a v-8, what about the front suspension, does that need any work? the 6 is heavy but heavy as a v8?
id like to see pics of the parts i need, i saw some pics of what it looks like, but nothing on removal
the flywheels are engine specific. If you plan on swaping in a 302 youll need a 302 flywheel if you plan on swaping in a 351 you'll need a flywheel for that. I have done much research only im going OBD II.
