my 93 f-150 flareside has 152,000 mi on it and i just noticed a rattling in the exhaust. when i got under the truck i discovered a broken bracket which holds that section of the pipe in place and a catalytic converter all corroted and not in good shape. does anyone know the chepest way to fix this problem without losing the loud exhaust sound from my flowmaster, or if possible can the truck be made louder by a new converter? ANY suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated thanks
Adrian
I say if you gotta keep the cat, go with a CATCO. Got mine for $60.00 and it is a 3" center in/out with air pipe. Depending on truck size/weight you might have to go with the $100.00 one.
thanks....does anyone know how to hollow out a converter??? i know its illegal to take them off so i dont wanna do that, but i wanna hollow it out so it 'll be loud as hell and give it more horsepower...thanks

Well..Just to let you know this is a very complicated procedure and I hope that you can follow. First, take off your cat and set in front of you in the vertical position. Next, take a iron bar or something similar to this about four feet long and bash the insides out of the cat. Chunks of white filtering material will fall out of the bottom. You will know you are finished when you shine a light in the cat and can see right through to the other side. Good Luck
Last time I heard it was illegal to mess with them in any way (ie. hollow out). Just my 3 cents....

Big Red Ticking 92 F150
Tick,Tick,Tick,Tick,Tick,Tick,Tick,Tick
best way i have found is too order up a pair of headman headers, 131$, and put on some real, true duals, also just for foot-note, with my 302 i had a gutted cat, no resonator, and a catback into 2 1/4" pipe, no mufflers. and it was actualy kinda quite!!!??!! figure, that one out!!
I have a 351w in my F150 with headers, no resonator or cat, and a edelbrock cat back system that goes from the 3" pipe off the y-pipe to 2.5", throught the turbo muffler then splits out the back. I just installed it. Actually has a nice rumble to it at idle. A little quiet I think. I havent had a chance to take it on the road yet though. Have any of you had the edelbrock systems and found them too quiet? Is it that turbo muffler? Any ideas to make it a little louder?
The easiest way to hollow the cat is tyo remove the exhaust right behind the cat. Then (with the cat still attached at the front) take a long screw driver/prybar and hammer it in repeatedly until pieces are broken. Then rev the truck a couple times to clear the broken pieces out. Repeat this until the cat is clear of all obstructions.
