replace oil cooler??

well i have most of the truck torn apart due to what i believe is a dead EGR cooler. so what caused the EGR cooler to die? i see some say due to lack of coolant flow from the oil cooler. i have a coolant filter installed and has been since October. i also flushed the system. so, should i replace the oil cooler? how do you check for blockage in the cooler?

i just had my cooler done and it's recommended to also change the oil cooler at the same time. if there's more than 20deg difference between the coolant in the oil cooler and the egr cooler it's suppose to be replaced. i had a 21deg difference so i figured when my bank account recovers a bit from the egr cooler fiasco i'll do the oil cooler.

You indicated in your other thread that this is the second EGR cooler failure in about 46k miles and that the engine now has 121k miles. It's almost a guarantee IMO that your oil cooler is at least partially plugged, given the repeat EGR cooler failures and high mileage, and should be replaced. However, I think Ford has the ability to test the oil cooler. It would make sense to me that this is a good time to replace the oil cooler since you're already into the engine.
