crazy speedo
I have a 1993 f150 4.9 2wd.
It runs great, but after a few miles the speedo will crash out and then it will not shift right. I changed out the speed sensor in the rear end, and it went to a bouncing speedo, and the problem still remains. When the speedo crashes its almost like a circut breaker because if you keep driving it comes back. I always would swear that it was trying to give me a message on the odemter but when it crashed it would look like a broken caculator with the digital numbers looking like they are "bleeding" and scrambled together. Lately the odemeter is flashing "error.3" does anyone know what this means? I have had 4 f150s from the 90's and I have never seen this before, or even herd of it. Should I just replace the speedo? Is there a circuit breaker in there?
Some direction would be helpful, I dont want the tranny to get dammaged, I cannot afford a rebuild.
Thanks
Wish I could offer some insight on your problem. Or 99 F450 has speedo issue sometimes(won't work, then will), our '01 F150 has odometer issues(now you see it, now you don't). Both have not been life threatening or caused other issues.
Hope you determine the cause.
THe shifting problem only happens when the speddo is not working, I havent had a chance to get into the dash yet, but when I do get it I will post what I find
