I am not the most tech-savy person when it comes to car audio. I was just wondering what anyone recommends or whatever on for an nice audio upgrade for my 92 F250 Standard Cab. I am not really considering subs for behind the bench seat due to the fact that it is still used by my parents some. I am just wondering what anybody likes (with a reasonable price) for my truck on a head unit and speakers. Anything would be great.
That would depend on what reasonable is and what you expect for it. My 89 had about $2k worth and it was just the way I wanted it. 2 12" subs, RF 6.5" Q component set, RF headunit with changer, and an old crossfire 4x100 amp. The amp and component system were the most expensive part and made the most difference. A clean sounding head unit doesn't have to cost alot if you only want to listen to CDs. I'd say look at the $100-200 radios. Then at the $300-500 speaker sets and a big enough amp to push them.
A component set can produce decent low frequency ranges, just not as low as a sub-woofer (say 20-80Hz) or at as high as of a decibel level. However because of the separate woofer and tweeter, you can get clean sound and a good cross over slope.
I think your better off with the Alpine. I haven't heard much in favor of the xplod stereos, I think it was mostly they used cheap FM tuners, the CD portion wasn't bad.

That's what I've heard about XPlod too. I just wasn't sure cuz I heard it from my ricer friends. Go figure.
But are there any other brands you would recommend?
I don't keep up with whos better, I just try to listen to problems. I am actually more sold on the appearance of the head unit, after all I have to look at in my dash. Very few radios look as good to me as the stock. In my 89 F150 I had a Rockford Fosgate that performed pretty well and looked decent enough. I think RF had been bought out by MB Quart, and if you can find RF products of that dynasty, then you will have pretty good quality.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. That is one of my concerns. I want something good, but it also needs to look nice in my cab. I don't want something that looks like it doesn't belong in my dash.
in my 91 i have a sony xplod it works and looks great for what i want, i also have boston aucoustics door speakers and 2 6x9s in custom boxes in the back with a 12" kicker sub but the sound is very clean and havent had a problem with it the stereo is good looking and works good for me
