I tried cleaning my EBPS this afternoon. I had Guzzle's writeup printed out and with me.
Guzzle's write-up was great. The only thing I found wrong was he transposed two wrench sizes. The lower wrench was 9/16" and the upper wrench was 5/8" which was a non-issue.
My problem was that we ran out of PB Blaster in the shop and I couldn't get the nut off the EBP tube. I could see the EBP tube was full of crap, but I couldn't get that dang nut off. I bent the bracket with a 9/16" crow's foot on a long extension.
Next weekend or maybe Tuesday if we get that Noreaster they're talking about I'll hit it with PB Blaster and try again.
Unfortunately no pictures. I was going to bring my camera along, but I had so much stuff in my hands I forgot all about it.
Yea. It's just a matter of getting enough PB Blaster on it and letting it soak long enough.
I really need a topside creeper. I had one foot inside my engine compartment and one foot on a ladder trying to get that dang thing loose.
At least it was warmer up here today. I was able to work in the shop with the door up in short sleeves and was comfortable.
I checked my oil pan over pretty thoroughly while I had the truck in the shop. It's a little oily (who'd have thought?) and because of that it's not rusty. I plan on cleaning it and soaking it in Fluid Film.
I,ve been having the same issues you guys have been discussing here with my 99 F-350 pu i need to take my EBP tube apart also and have a look/cleaning i,m sure with 151k on the truck. There is alot of great info here i,m glad i found this forum.
