Last night I parked in an icy driveway.I put the expy in park and had the emergency brake on. The front wheels were on dry pavement the rears on the ice. The expy slid down the driveway to the street. My question is would it have slid if the expy was in 4 wheel drive? At the time it was in awd.
If you're in AWD it will slide because the front axle isn't locked in. But if you have it in 4WD then yes, that would have prevented the sliding because the front axle would've been locked to the rear axle and the front tires would not have turned.
It depends on the year. There is no AWD, the system is A4WD which is automatic 4WD, not All Wheel Drive. Some are A4WD / 4H / 4L others have selectable 2H also. I'm not sure where the break offs are in the model years are, but my 99 did not have 2H, my 03 and 04 have 2H.
