When I travel between 50 - 60 mph the Ex rides kinda rough but from about 65mpg and up its like in a aeroplane with out the air pockets... just smooth and quiet.
It doesn't shake it just feels like it I'm riding on a gravel road... I'm gonna drive it today and I'll see if I can be abit more accurate with the description.
ok providing all your suspension/steering components are tight, try having frt wheels balanced , usualy when wheel/tire is out of balance the shake occurs between 50-60 mph

I have been having the same problem, but I get a flashing and blinking battery light also.
For me it feels like I am driving on a rutty dirt road in a front wheel drive car.
I took the truck to Auto Zone, my charging system all checked out and there are no codes.
So far, I have upgraded my battery and most of my ground cables. I have 2 ga. wire for the positive side and the ground to the frame. I used the same wires, for the other grounds.
I also pulled all the COP's to look for wear.
I still get the flashing battery light, just no where near as much. But the rough "feeling" is gone.
Not sure if that helps. I met a guy that does side work here that used to be a Ford Mechanic; he said I can come by sometime and we can hook it up to his scanner, so we will see.
If you would like I can keep you up to date on what I have going on.
I have the same issue with my Excursion. I have taken it to a dealer and they said my tires cannot be 'Road Force Balanced". I think my tires are the problem and will replace them in the future. It happens most of the time after the Excursion has been sitting for two weeks. I believe the tires get out of round from sitting. It gets better after driving for awhile.

Get flat spots on the tires. I hadn't experienced that since I was a kid taking tobacco to the warehouse. Dads truck (a 1966 ford f100) had bias ply tires on it and it would get flat spots in them while sitting there unloading. Unless you got a load on your truck, you really shouldn't be getting them in my opinion.
CampSpringsJohn, I agree with your comments. I purchased the vehicle with the tires on it. Mid range priced tires which have much of the tread left. Indentations in the side walls which is a workmanship problem causes tires to get out of round.
