hello, im am looking at a few 88 ford rangers 4x4, i been talking to two guys and they wont come down from 900 bucks and they both have almost 200.000 miles on them? how much would u pay? they are both great running trucks.
It depend on how good of shape there in. I know you said they run well, but how's the bodies and what options do they have? I would perfer a manual tranny and t-case with lockouts myself. 900.00$ doesn't sound bad if there in decent shape.
theres some rust nothing bad tho both autos with man locking huds and 80 tread life left on tires. one has a cap one desnt. there is no rust on cab just the bed on one of the trucks..
For a 20 year old truck, 200K on the odometer is'nt out of line, really, and some rust/dents/scratches is to be expected if the truck has seen any real use at all. To me, when it comes to buying a different truck, what I look for first is how well the thing runs, because if it won't run, the best looking truck in the world does no good, right? You say they both run good, so it just is a matter of what's more important to you. If looks are a high priority, if you need or want a cap on your truck, bigger engine, etc.
As for my opinion on price, not having looked them over in person, I can say that I feel $900 for a 20 year old 4x4 that runs well is'nt really out of line.
thanks for the input, i dident think that it was out of line i just dident think that these trucks were worht that much still. thanks for the help.. i will be picking up a new ranger this week
Being a 4wd makes them worth that kind of money, 4wd's are high dollar in my neck of the woods as I live in the snow covered midwest. Trucks are high in general. There's people that will ask 1,500$ for a rusted out 88 2wd ranger and not crack a smile when asking.
There are several other things to be factored in. A beach cruiser can be different to different people depending upon how you are going to use it. Are you going to cruise the beach w/hot babes in the back ? If so you have no need of a cap. If your intention is spending the weekend surf fishing then get the truck with the cap. To me the deal clincher would be if one is an x-cab.
