It only happens sometimes in the morning...once or twice a week when i leeve to work.It sounds like a loose rod or something but it goes away in a few minutes I'm almost sure its from my tuner.does anyone else have this problum.
What are your temps out there now? Diesel engines make funny noises when they're cold. Different oils make different sounds too. With Delo, my truck sounds like it's got a slight knock when cold, with Rotella I get more of a cackle. I guess it depends on how loud the knock is.
Cannot be very cold in Hawaii.
LOL, I met a family from Hawaii a while back. All the kids were born there and had moved here to Seattle. It wasn't THAT cold at the time, maybe 45 degrees, but they all had ski parkas on and zipped up to their neck.
As far as the noise, check all the usual suspects: retorque the injectors, rocker pedastals and make sure there is no air in your fuel supply to the engine.
are you in the habit of just starting motor and driving off? If so i am betting you need to be idleing for a few minutes and let things warm up we do this on our big diesel trucks and tractors even in the summer time as well as idleing too cool turbo and oil before shutting off. can lose job if they don't.any way thats been my experince here.

I am.
They warm up quicker when they are working.
I simply wait for the oil pressure to build, count to 3 and go.
I definately let it idle to cool back down if I just pulled a mountain pass and the EGT is 500 degrees just idleing.
Aloha kakahiaka,it's only 80* right now and i let her idle for 10-20 seconds just to let the oil circulate in the engine.Come to think of it there might be something wrong with my fuel system, when it gets below 1/4 tank it has a hard time to start and all kine of noises might be air in the system but dont know where its coming from.
Simple thing first, try a bottle of Diesel Kleen or another major brand, maybe you have a little mess in the tank with all that "cold" 80* weather... LOL!!!

It's probably coming in through the side of the fuel pickup at the bottom of the mixing chamber.
An easy way to diagnose that is to fill up the tank and see what happens.
I'm going to run a carter lift pump and a racor or dahl water separator, would that help the problum or should i find out why air is leaking into my fuel system first.

If i fill up my tank it's still there but you can hardley here it only when it get low.The first time it happend it was so bad that i stalled on the side of the road, missing, loud noises and couldent start. At first i thought it was my fuel fiter changed it,nothing happend so i went back home to get more tools to take out mt dp and still no start, went back home again to get 5 gal. of fuel because i notice that fuel wasent getting to the bowl even when it still showed more then 1/4 tank.Could alge be plugging my pick-up?

Maybe.
I am more suspicious of the fine screens inside the mixing chamber simply getting filled with the general junk of years of operation.
Pull the sender from the tank and clean it out.
I would also eliminate the quick connects from the fuel system between the tank and the pump inlet. They are known for letting in a lot of air.
Just cut them away and install fuel lines with screw clamps. Use the expensive fuel injection rated hose and then you won't have to worry about the fuel melting the rubber from the inside out.
