I have a 06 F250 with a 6.0 diesel and ordered 4" turbo back exhaust just wondering if i needed the cat left on for the motor or will it hurt the motor if removed? live in Iowa so no worry about emission test don't have them. TIA
It's fine to run without it. You'll hear a little more turbo whine. Lots of guys run these straight piped with no issues.
I had no cat, and I had it put it back on. I didn't care to hear the noise, and emissions are a concern here. I noticed absolutely no diffence in performance with or without the cat. So don't expect miracles. Lower EGT temps are probably the biggest plus.
Put an MRBP turbo back on mine last May and pulled the kitty out. No problems whatsoever with engine operation or performance. However, I'd recommend you keep your CAT around just in case emission testing/requirements change somewhere down the road and you need to put it back on. CATs are not exactly cheap and with the new administration I think emission testing/requirements are going to get a lot tighter.

I second the above! YOu'll LOVE the turbine sound, esp at high idle!
