>Does anyone know what the changes for
>the 2000 f-150's are? Obviously
>they will add/remove colors from the
>pallet. new options?
I just ordered one today, but the only differences I remember are for the XLT. Standard now are embroidered "F Series" floor mats and an "overhead console" with storage, electronic compass and outside air temp. I am really curious about this since the dealer didn't have any brochures yet.
the other changes ive been told about from the dealers here is that in 2000 f-150 will be the first 1/2 ton to offer a crew cab ,4 full doors ,not small reversed hinged, the box is should turn out to be a 5 footer instead of the 6 foot.as for 2001 the f-150 are to get a sheet metal rework and rumor has that this is going to be done every couple of years in an effort to better resale values.
Do you know if there will be any change in the body style? I currently have a '98 XL standard cab and I'm ready to upgrade to an XLT or Lariat super cab. I almost bought a '99 the other day but I really want to wait and see what the 2000 looks like! Let me know if you know anything.
The biggest changes for the 2000 truck is going to be color changes. I haven't heard about about full four doors. We are not making that change at our plant. It might be for the super duties. Most other changes are small trim changes. Most things will not be noticed by the general public.
I went to dealer today to order 2000 F-150. I noticed these changes:
Colors added: Island Blue, Chestnut
Colors deleted: Dark Toreador Red, Teal
Axle ratios: 3.31 replaces 3.55's as standard and 3.73's are not included with Off Road Package (This is good news if you are concerned with gas mileage)
The XLT and Lariat will include an overhead console with compass, outside temperature gauge and storage.
I think the exterior will be the same, but there are some different wheel options.
Two more things that I read about, the 4.6L engine will now have the Coil-On-Plug system and the F-250LD has been redesigned as an F-150 with a Heavy Duty Payload package.
I've heard the angle of the extended cab back seat will be improved--not quite so vertical. Also heard the horsepower of the 4.6 has been increased by about 25 hp(!?)
I have a 2000 Latiat on order
minor changes
17" tires are standard on the Lariat
Overhead Console with outside temp & Compass
Remote entry outside touch pad on door on the Lariat
Hope to have mine in 4 - 6 weeks (ordered 2 weeks ago)

I saw 3 F-150 Lariat's at the local Ford dealer and none of them(3) had the outside keypad on the driver's door. Is that an option? Maybe it's not available yet?
