Mustang II steering stop ?'s

How and/or where do the steering stops mount on the mustang II set up. I got mine from TCI and it has air bags. My fiberglass fenders are not liking the tire grinding on them. Pics would be helpful. Thanks

No dis intended, stpjv, this is THE best place for info on anything related to our trucks, but I've always found the best and most accurate source for tech information like this is to call the manufacturer directly. If they can't/won't provide it, then I would not deal with them any more.
It also helps if you put what year and model truck you have in your posts.

I agree that talking with the manufacter is always best. The boys at TCI are somewhat clueless at times and haven't been of much help and I would love to not deal with them anymore but I'm sort of stuck with the Mustang II as it's already welded on there.

I have a 54 f100. I'm just looking for what other people are using as steering stops. As it is now there is nothing stopping the wheels from getting into the fender. Thanks in advance for your help.

I understand your frustration with a less than helpful manufacturer. I would insist on talking to the owner or designer rather than just a counter person. My suggestion would be to try to determine where the spindles make contact. I would assume there is a designed in stop there some place to prevent damage to the rack if you hit a deep pothole or ??? with the wheels turned, and see if there is a way to extend one side or the other. Drill and thread and install a bolt, install a rubber pad or stop, or weld on a piece of metal. The other possibility is the wheels you are using have too much offset, therefore the tire can make contact with the fender. How close does the other side of the tire come to the frame when the tire contacts the fender? Is there room to use a wheel with less offset? Lastly are you using radial tires? could you use front tires with a narrower width or aspect ratio?

Good questions ,suggestions Ax..heres a couple of more, does this vehicle have dropped spindles? Is the front suspension lowered, thus wheel placement is "high and inside" the wheel well, what size tire/rim combo...what is the wheel backspace? has the front crossmember been moved forward ?...most aftmkt crossmembers are moved fwd 1.25"-1.50"..to center the wheel in the wheelwell..
Alot of variables here..what is the distance hub to hub with the wheels off? (Trackwidth) I suspect the off the shelf MII has a specific width..anybody else measure there"s?/ Got a number to share? Just tossing some ideas around...I "ve got some more questions once a few knowns are fiqured out.. Good Luck!
