If you really want the look of the factory wheel, the cracks are easy to fix. Start searching the internet on how to recondition steering wheels. I had to fix some small gouges in mine (but could have fixed cracks if needed be) with JBWeld, then painted the wheel with Gloss Black appliance Epoxy paint. Man it looks great! Super smooth gloss black finish. I've got about $20 invested in it - the paint was $5 and the rest was sand paper lol

I have two steering wheels out of an 81 L700 that are in like new shape. I'm going to see if one will fit my column, and if it does, that will look pretty sweet. They are large diameter three-spoke...kind of like what you see on the 60s-70s F600s...and I have one original "Ford" horn button for the wheel. The smaller steering wheels would probably make a manual steering truck more difficult to turn...wouldn't they? Less diameter= less leverage.

If it does work, I'll let you know.

I put a 79 steering wheel on my (73 f250 4x4 manual steering 35s) and I didnt think that little of a differnce in size would be a big deal but that extra inch or so in size made a differnce I put my old beat up wheel back on. I thought about buying a 16inch walnut grip for a mustang that had a ford logo. I figure i would be big enough that I might beable to turn with.
