if i want to put lockers, say an aussie locker in the rear of my 72 sport, does that mean i automatically have to upgrade to 31 spline axles, i think i'm stock at 28 or 29 spline, right ???
i was thinking of going to 4.56 gears, anyway, but now wondering if i gotta spend more on axles too.

It looks like the only spline count they offer is 31 spline. I would recommend a good set of aftermarket alloys as a good upgrade if you are actually going to be wheeling your Bronco. Stock is 28 spline.
I was only referring to the Aussie locker that you were originally inquired about. Of course there are other alternatives to replace them with if you want to keep the original axles.
If you are installing a locker though, it is a good idea to replace the original axles. And when you are changing the differential anyways, the upgrade to 31spline is a big strength improvement over the factory 28.
What size tires do you plan on running? What kind of four wheeling are you going to be doing? Does it have any type of limited slip now? If it does, the case won't accept a drop in locker. I don't like recommending them anyways because the factory cases are not very strong.
i agree.. if your going to do the locker id go ahead and upgrade...especially if its gonna be a track truck, huge power additions to the engine, or rock crawler..
i didnt know if he was just wanting it for an upgrade to use on the street or what... thats why i put the others out there since there wasnt any specifics on what he was planning to do with the truck...
i'm running 35's now with an nv3550, and its okay for the street, i only do some trail riding, and most of my off road is on the sand, so i need at least one of my axles locked, and going to 4.56 cause on the sand my 4 hi is too high, so i have to 4 lo it all the time.

Regular Detroit Locker and 31 spline axles, then. I don't even use 4wd most of the time in the sand with this setup. Only if I get myself stuck after being stopped or if I'm climbing a major dune.
