hello all. i have a 52 coe. I like the looks of the 48-50 grill better. is it possible to change the lower fenders and grill? If so what trucks would it have to come off of? thanks for the help
Welcome to the board!! I can already tell that you are a smart man with great taste. I think we all know that the 48-50 grill outclasses the 51/52 grill, hands down.
LOL...just kidding, since you're new here I'll let you in on the joke. We have a long standing, good natured, arguement around here about which grill is better looking. Some of the replies are quite creative and pretty danged humorous.
Back to the question, I think the grills themselves are all the same. Since you have a COE I'm not sure about the lower fender panels, valance, etc. One of the big truck guys should be along shortly with the answer.
The front clip from a 51/52 COE is indeed what would be needed. That would be the fenders, the inner fenders, the grille assembly, and the hood. Just so you know .... the COE grille is not the same as the conventional cab 48 to 50 models though. It does appear to the be the same forthe 51/52 models from F1 through F6 however. The 48-50 grilles for the COE is the same as the F7 and F8 trucks .... something around 3 inches wider overall.
I'm familiar with all that since I have a COE from 48, and one from 51, and no nothing is for sale. (grin)
thanks all . does anyone have a front clip for 48 to 50 coe. thanks again also i would like to build a truck like 48coe green one. would like to have some details if you dont mind
Pictures please. Please drop everything in your hands and back away from the truck. I will come and get it soon. No one should ever make a 51 or 52 into a 48-50.
I am the proud owner of TWO 1952 F6 COE's and in process of restoring one and hotrodding the other( Cummins 5.9 diesel behind the cab with 4" chop top)' I know I will have tech. questions as I move along. I'll be glad to help others if I can.
