Reasonable price on '06 F150 supercab longbed?
I'm helping my brother search for a work truck/personal truck. Local dealership has a 2006 F150 supercab long bed XLT with only 20K miles on the clock. Its a certifed vehicle with extended powertrain warranty to 100K. KBB says $19K and Edmunds says $19.5K retail asking price. Lowest they've offered to date is right at Edmunds number, $19,500. How much lower can we reasonable expect the dealership to go on this? Anyone have access to recent auctions for similar trucks? Its not an easy combination to find the supercab long bed but he's not in a hurry to buy either. Any advice?
Thanks,
Eric

considering that you can buy a brand new 2008 XLT for $22-24 after the $10k in rebates/price slashing...that dealer wants too much money.
We need more info on the options for a more refined price.
Motor?
6.5' or 8' bed?
Tow Package?
Power options?
I'd go in and offer about $17 to 19,000 out the door after TT&L.
Give them a phone # and leave.
They will call. Essentially asking $20k for a 3yr old model truck is ludicrous.
The dealership is hoping for a sucker sale. Those people are out there, but in this economy, their harder to find. So your brother will likely get lucky and get a better price.

now we are talking. yes, I'd say $18k is a reasonable price. In my eyes, the Heavy duty package adds a bit of value...especially since it has the 10.25 (7 lug) rear axle with 4.10 gears.
Didn't know you could get the Heavy Duty in a XLT package though. I thought they were only available in the XL package.

Hold the phone. If i have 7 lugs, so i have a heavy duty tow package? With a 10.25? and 4.10 gears? Back to the original question:
I have a 06 f150 Ext cab XL 5.4, Auto, 4x4, 8 ft bed 7 lug, tow package, Power windows, Had 27500 on it when i bought and i got it for 13,000. And thats because i bought a 5yr/100,000 mile warrenty. But gas was $3.00+ when i bought it. You just have to shop around I had to leave my hometown but luckily i found one about 20 miles down the road at a dealer. I was 1 of 3 wanting the truck. So they are out there you just have to find them. And its hard to do.

Thanks all. My brother is going to make them the offer and wait to hear back from the dealer. We're in Philadelphia. We've been to see just about every brand/model of truck in the last few weeks. Its pretty difficult to find a truck with these specs based upon most classified listings on cars.com, autotrader, or vehix. Most don't have enough details to be able to tell bed length.

I bought my 06 scab XLT with tow package 5.4l power everything (except seats for some idiot reason) even has the 6 disc in dash CD w/Sirius radio (BUT it had 41K) out the door the $15,500. Dealerships are hurting, if I had cash I could have gotten it for about 14 here in SoCal. Offer low you can always go up, the trucks aren't really selling right now and they aren't gining crap for used ones.
