It is truely amazing that you can be almost sure, based of the sketchy info available. I always thought it was necessary to do some testing.

Are you suggesting that I test the egr? I've got no problem with testing things but with working outside in 10 degree weather and the dark, I'd like to try narrowing the list down as much as possible.

Is there any other info that would be helpful?

I wasn't suggesting testing for EGR problems, but the vacum gauge is an easy quick way to test several things. These include general health of the engine, vacumn leak, bad valves, restricted exhaust, etc. The vacumn gauge is a real handy cheap quick test instrument.
If you suspect the egr is leaking and causing a problem, you can test it by making a block off plate. Just pull the valve loose at the throttle body and use the gasket for a template on a thin piece of metal. I can't remember what I used when I did this, but it may have been a steel can. Used a bit of RTV to seal things up , then bolted the egr back in place, and that eliminated the EGR from the system.
Sometimes eliminating possibilitys is the best you can do. At least it helps narrow down the problem.
Is it possible that you have an intake manifold leak?

The mystery has been solved. I threw a spare egr position sensor on that was laying around and that got rid of the codes but didn't help. That got me back to thinking it was something mechanical so I called up pops to see if he had ever come across something like this and he suggested to try the fuel filter just for the hell of it. Rather than wasting the time of putting a new one on I did a fuel pressure test and it was way low. So out of curiosity I switched it over to the rear tank that I haven't been using due to a leak and the pressure jumped up. Ran it over to the gas station, put some gas in the rear tank and she was rockin and rollin again. So once it warms up it looks like I'll be replacing a rear tank and a front pump.

Beats me why it would have anything to do with the temperature that its running at but you can literally turn the problem on and off by flipping the gas tank switch. Guess for now its an added anti theft device.
