Well, Now my 06 6.0 has 30,546 miles
3 weeks ago (first freeze 32 degrees) I had one dead battery, the dealer (local dearler sux) changed just the dead one, but they tell us the customer to always chang them in pairs.funny
2 weeks ago (40 degrees) I was changing fluids and filters oil/fuel and noticed an oil leak
1 week ago the truck (20 degrees in florida)wouldn't crank, it tried 4 times then fired up shaking and smoking bad. the longer it ran the better it ran.
it cranked fine when it was warm.
I scaned it and found 2 codes 1 was the fuel enjection control mod the other invalid glow plug data.
Wed. I took the truck to a dealer out of town no question's they took it right that afternoon the tranny was on the jack and they where changing the rear main seal.
THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODS
we have been waiting 5 days for one. I hope to get my truck back sometime this week.
After doing some research on this site low voltage will burn out a FICM which is what I think happen to mine, a friends went out 1 month after a dead battery with 130,000 mile and no warrenty it cost him $1295.00.So from now on I will be checking my bats as part of my routine maintance.
Well its been 8 days and no truck yet, the dealer is still waiting for the FICM to get here. the rear main was leaking and has been fixed, the glow plug data they feel has something to do with the FICM not working, yesterday I was at the local parts store and ( im a regular there) and the owner told me of 4 other 6.0's that had FIMC go out with in the last few months. Has there been a recall, TSB or something is seems cold weather or voltage issues burn these units of I live in a small town and think 4 or 5 out say 500 SD is a lot .
There is a back order from the maker of the part nation wide, there must be SD all over suffering from this problem waiting for this one part. and then to find out it cost $1200.00 thats just stupid.
Does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks marshall we should all be so lucky to have extra parts laying around,
Im just informing folks of the back order if they needed one, expect to wait, other wise I was asking if this was just a local shortage ( in the south) or had other people had this problem. in other parts of the country.

Funny you mention this because i towed my buddies 05 250 to the shop a week and a half ago and the diagnosis was a bad FICM. Told him the same thing, FICM's seem to be in high demand and are on back order.
Thanks for the information, we have only had a couple of FICM's go out. We just so happened to have one laying on the parts shelf... I checked with the parts guy and he said there is a 2 week backorder on them.. wow... THanks for the info
Its funny that it seems to have happened all at once. During the winter you would always see 4x4 problem threads, clogged turbos and egr valves due to extended idle during winter, and cold starting due to injectors. Now this winter, its FICM failure. I wonder how much of this is due to the inductive heating flash?
I'm not sure how much is related... I just work on them LOL... There is an update for 6.0's that changes the injection timing and egr valve operation after 4 to 5 minutes of idling, That should fix the coking build up on the egr valves, turbos and intake manifolds. I think a recall should be opened as well. However, the task of getting Ford to pay for anything is becoming increasingly difficult... Last week I changed and instrument cluster cover on new 6.4 diesel pickup, and the claim to warranty was denied because the "pictures weren't clear enough..." So not just the owners are getting screwed, but as well the dealers and techs...
Maybe we should ask for a goverment bail out since ford isn't doing it's part for a person that pay's $30,000 PLUS. No but really gonna put 2 new batteries on her in two days, TRUCK IS NOT RUNNING,STARTING,MILEAGE right . I hope it isn't the FICM!!
