Just had mine fixed, was the vac. solenoid behind the battery on passenger side, they checked it and the ohms reading were bad, new switch and all is fine.

i talked to a dealer today they said it sounds like the 4x4 shift control module i checked the switch the indicator light works but the switch acts like it is not getting power i checked all the fuses in the cab again and they are fine the control module is 230 dealer only they said i was hoping for a cheaper fix it makes sense though when you turn the switch nothing happens it does not light up on dash or anything buy the light n the dash does work i checked it like you said where should i start with the module or ?????

Without going through David's checklist, you're throwing money at it.

It could be the motor, fuses, relays, even just a bad connection.

F-250 (03) 4x4 not engaging

It finally seems to work IF the vehicle is warmed up for 15 or 20 minutes . But when its cold it wont work ????
