It's my impression that the Platinum is designed to cut against the LT. If one is driving an LT then test drives a lesser equipped / luxurious truck, the ride will definately be different. Likewise if your buying a 4x4 truck with 20" wheels then you should expect it to ride like a truck if you expect it to work like a truck. I've owned a vehicle with the lower profile sidewalls, the larger wheels look great and handle excellent, but they tend to offer a less supple ride than than a 17" wheel / tire combo.

I know it isn't the same truck but my 09 150 with 20's rides like a sports car compared to my last two F250's with 16's.
That would make sense. The LT just didn't do it for me. Lincolns features belong on a more of a car type vehicle, IMO.
Tim
All the bling on the Platinum also make it "more of a car type vehicle"
With the way the modern suspensions are designed, You never ride on the extra springs until You put a load on the rear suspension. So there should be minimal difference in the ride, when empty, because of the springs.
Although I agree, the 18's will ride better than the 20's.

Wow! Sorry to hear that Mike. The discounts will only get better and he's not the only dealer that can sell an F-150.

Hate to hear of your bad experience. Keep shopping around and find a dealer that wants your business. It IS a buyer's market right now and I can't understand a dealer having an arrogant attitude like that. You also might want to mention your experience to a sales manager or the owner of the dealership. I would think that a dealer (in these economic times) would want to know if they had a salesman that treated a customer like that.
In these times, Ford will be closing any unprofitable dealerships. Peeps that deal like that, won't be in business much longer. Let Um cull the bad dealerships out.
In 1989 I sold Fords for about six months while I was between military careers. The sales manager did most of the closing and he was the rudest P***k that I can remember. He had a knack for telling people what they would pay for the car and they would usually agree and buy it.
However, today's buyers are different. All the various media sources etc, etc and dealers offering steep discounts just to get us in the door are slowly educating people. The days of arrogance are over unless your the only dealer for 100 miles, I'm not so sure that is the case anywhere.

Mention it to the sales manager because he may not know that this happened. Yeah, Ford may need to weed out some crappy dealerships or maybe that dealer needs to weed out one crappy salesman. Not quite fair to jump to the conclusion that it's the entire dealership and not just one greasy, sleasy salesman.

I have no idea where in Hew Hampshire you are, but if your close to the coast or you don't mind driving, go to Maine. Take a day and get on Route 1 and head to Wiscasset. Wiscasset Ford is the biggest damned Ford dealer i've ever seen.
I'm afraid Ford will keep around the largest and in many cases the worst dealships to deal with. In my experience the best dealerships have been the smaller dealerships and that includes the service dept also. I bought my 04' from a family owned small dealer and before that always used a small dealer that was owned by a friend of the family. That dealership was very good and had goods techs working for them. I prefer to steer clear of larger dealerships especially after the experience I had with one when shopping for my 04'. I walked out of the dealership.
Were you financing through Ford? Have you been preapproved with them? When we bought our Mark LT on 1/2/09, I knew what we were paying for the truck and what our interest was before we stepped foot on the lot. By financing through Ford we got $2000 in rebates even though I got a lower rate from my CU, it was better to use Ford. I went through the dealers fleet/internet salesman. The only thing the finance guy tried to sell us was a maintenance agreement which we declined. We were out in about 1 1/2 hours. We did not have a trade-in so that could have taken longer. However if your trade-in is in nice condition they should be able to give you a quote over the phone. Have them fax you all the figures, which you can then take with you. The dealer who we used, which is in Southern California, was up front on everything. It was the easiest new vehicle purchase I have ever made.We got a truck with an MSRP of $46K for $30K.
