??? about advancing cam

Hey fellows, Ive got a 460 with a comp cams xe284h-10, duration at .050 I240 E246 lobe separation 110.0 lift I.584 E.588, 200 shot of nos, J+E forged dish pistons, dove heads ported as per RHP website, eagle h beams running cam straight up but was interested in advancing cam 4 degrees just to see. This truck is driven on the street only. Anyone done this and if so what should i expect with this or if it is even worth the work pulling cover and all to do it. chuck

It won't make a hugh difference, moves peak TQ down a couple hundred rpm, but it may be enough to present P-V clearance problems depending how much you have now.

Its already on a 106 intake centerline or 4 degrees advanced as long as you have a good aftermarket timing chain. I wouldn't be mess with it or worry about piston to valve clearance.

I would call the cam mfgr. and ask them what to expect from advancing it. Keep in mind closing points are just as important as opening points in cam timing. I would also degree it in to make sure where it's at if you haven't already done so.
