I posted this in the wrong place, forgive me reposting it to get more attention.
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1 itxtvisited="1"><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Can anyone point me to a place that I can find the original engine specs for my motor. Things like valve sizes and head CC's. stroke bore, horsepower claims etc. anything with dimensions of ports in the head and such would be of great help. Compression ratio is another one I would like to find. It is a 79 in a F-150. I know the heads are d3v3-a2a. Do not have any block numbers but could find em If needed. Thanks in advance
I got these numbers from Tom Monroe's book how to rebuild 351c-351m-400-429-460 but it shows your heads as 91.4 cc's and 2.08/1.66 valve sizes. For compression ratio I used the info from a Ford motorsport catalog last time I did it. It depends on a lot of variables like pistons, head gasket thickness. According to the Tom Monroe book it should be around 8.5 if its all stock. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the reply Dirt racer. I will have to get my hands on that book for sure. Thanks for the Ford motorsports catalog tip as well, I can access that easily.
Some books have inaccurrate or just wrong information. But I would talk to Monsterbaby on this when possible, he is very knowledgeable on the Big daddy 460s. Maybe he will even chime in. Maybe another member will also that knows a boatload of the awsome 460. For the D3VE-A2A heads, if I remember correctly the chamber CC rating is 95 or 96. Not 91.4 ccs.
Its been a while since I have had time to research factory parts etc. for my 460 build, I have been side tracked by my sisters race car and school. But I remember the headgasket thickness varied between .051 - .055 compressed when I was taken away from my project. I have not narrowed it down yet to what the actual thickness is so dont quote me on it, but of course, different compression ratios will make it vary if there was a couple that were used. Your engine block will be D9TE (1979 to end of production). Which has .250 deeper cylinder than the D1VE block (1971 - 1978). The Bore = 4.36" & stroke = 3.85". I am sure if you search port sizes for the 460 you might find them somewhere. Thats getting into deeper detail which not many people know of measurement wise.
Do some searching in the forum and on the internet. Go to a library also. Over time you will accumulate the information needed.
