do you have your ignition and starter solenoid wired correctly? when the keys in the run position do you get power? when its in start does it get power? i actually have my distributor wired with an inline fuse to the "i" post on the solenoid. it gets the current it needs this way.
Did you carefully set the points at .017 gap when they are off of the distributor cam? Did you install a condensor with the points in the distributor? If you replaced the sparkplug wires did you put the new ones on correctly. 15426378 going counterclockwise looking down on the cap. Number one on the cap is usually marked with a '1'. Cylinders 1 to 4 passengers side and 5 to 8 on the drivers side front to back. The wire coming out of the distributor goes to the negative side of the coil. Also make sure that the starter solenoid on the passenger side fender well has both of the small wires that push in on studs in place. The one on the right sends a full 12 volts to the coil during the cranking over period for easier starting. That is important. Paul
