Well to set a price on a truck is hard area plays into what you will get, condition also plays a part. You have put money into sadly you may not get what you have in it out. SO you need to figure what your lowest selling price will be. I would say about 6000 to 11000 and hope for the best. Pictures help show the condition and allow for better guestimates.
Well I am asking $6500 and was not going below $6000, however I keep getting low balled and not sure if it because of times are tough right now or what. If you hit the link I have pics in the other thread. I'm trying to get a good price thats fair for both parties, I understand I will never see what I have into it. I mean I had a guy offer me $4,000 just because the frame was not painted, I wanted a nice looking truck but not a show truck, I based my price from some local area truck trader and I was lower than most trucks that year with original engines with a hell of alot of miles, dented up, 2wd ect.
Personally I would say you are high, outward appearances look good, abd the dash is nice, but your frame/undercarriage needs some attention and the bed looks not so good, and original trucks are often times worth more, because they haven't been molested to bad.
Joe
So what do you mean by attention? Its not rusted out, all nuts and bolts are there, nothing wrong with bed other than paint and I explained that I did'nt want to paay $600 for it to be covered up by bed liner. I guess for most people they expect more than I do from a 30 year old truck.
I think 6,000 is high too for the way the bed looks honestly. Sand it down and at least through some white paint on it. Then people might pay a bit more.
Ok, I own a 63, a 66, a 73 AND a 77, and ALL of the beds look better than yours, and I paid less than 6g's for the most $$$ one, my 77. If you have that much $$ into the engine, I question the stock exhaust manifolds. A CD player really doesn't mean squat to most, you have to take into the fact that your truck is a nice truck, but it is not a 6g truck. Unless your truck is a 1 or 2 owner, original miles, unmolested rust-free truck it is normally going to go for around 2500-4000, unless it is VERY obvious the money you have into it, OR it's worth. My 77 is for sale locally here, you look in my gallery and tell me what it is worth.... I don't have mega bucks in the engine, but it is original, I don't have a cage, but the interior is spotless with a new seat, the paint it the original, and the bed looks great. No offense, but you have about a 3500 truck in the real world.
LMAO.. constructive feedback is what I'm looking for and you already gave it, your so focused on the bed, and as far as the engine goes, well if I'm hearing your right if someone has alot of money into it then they must have headers? WOW..unwritten rule i apologizefor not knowing that? Well I have the build sheet and it shows exaclty whats in that engine and a total at the bottom, and the reason why I don't have headers is I had to go with outside the frame headers and thats not what I want, plus the engine builder (who is one of the best Ford builders in the NorthWest) said stock is fine.
Ok so the bed needs paint, structurly its fine, we are aware the bed needs paint, you have stated that, I also stated I did'nt want to pay the $600 price to paint it when I was going to have a spray in bed liner, I just have not gotten that far yet, please read that statement this time.
I looked at your trucks and you have a nice collection, I am not going to price your 77, because its obvious you want to pick a fight (maybe thats how you get you post count so high?) I don't want to fight, I want to learn about my Ford because after thinking about it I don't want to sell it I want to finish it, and finish it how I want it headers or not.
I apologize if I pissed in your cereal Pickupman I was asking a question "what do you mean attention" so I can pin point but you want to call me a liar about the $$ I have in my engine, your second post is a bit diffirent than your first?
Could I get some input?? this was YOUR question, you asked for input, and I and others are telling you what WE as buyers would look at. If you have that much into the engine, yes headers would ADD to that statement, as well as having the engine LOOK like it is worth that, I only have about $2000 into my 66's engine, but I did take the time and effort to paint it and clean it up, and paint the engine bay and make it LOOK clean and rebuilt, not just show someone a build sheet.
You have stacked blocks in the rear and old shocks, and parking brake cables stretched to reach, the front shock boot with the zip-tye falling off looks way old, and the frame and yes the bed look pretty rusty, not to mention the missing mirror on the pass. side and missing rear marker light. So, if you WANT input, don't b--ch about what INPUT you get.
Well your calling me a liar and I don't like that. Dove heads I was told is a good thing and its obvious you judge books by the covers, I'm not bitching about the input, but when someone questions the fact if I lie, well it pisses me off you don't know me and if your going to judge my engine because I don't have headers....LOL WOW not sure what to say. BTW all the side marker lights are there and I am changing mirrors I understand the pic show dififrent but they are there now, thats if you believe me.
Well thatone,,,,,, you seem to be too sensitive for your own good, IF you go back and READ, I said I QUESTION the stock manifolds, there is a difference between questioning, and calling you a liar. Questioning means, WHY?!? that is all, I would have added headers. You asked WHY you weren't getting what you are asking for your truck, and getting lowballs of 4g's and I answered your question...
My post count is due to the fact that I have been on here for a few more days than you, and I make it a habit of not getting into pissing matches with those who are looking for them, i.e. YOU. The facts are, YOU asked for INPUT, and YOU did not LIKE the input YOU asked for and got....
In the future, you will not get input from me. Good Luck.
Joe
Well for the record the input did help me decide to keep it and finish it, and now I know what to work on. Looks like I'm not the only one having a hard time selling trucks, I guess opinions vary because I would never pay $4,200 for a 66 that looked like that, and are you selling the 77 because of the vibration or did you fix it?
Point being I suppose I'm not the only one who has issues with the selling of a truck. And after reading some of your other posts I would be surprised if I didn't get any more input.
I think it is a hard time right now to sell ANY truck, no matter what make or model unless it goes for cheap. If I were to put $6000 on a truck I would look at every little thing. If you keep your truck it is definitely a nice one to drive around. If you sell it someone will get a cool truck. Right now around here anyway $6000 is alot of money for a lot of people. So it will be hard to get that if people don't have the extra money. I would think you would get closer to what you ask simply by spraying the bed with atching spray paint. My bed had a bunch of surface rust. I scuffed it down a bit and put a $25 can of por15 down and it made a world of difference. You don't have to spend %600 to fix the bed
