Thanks for the advice on them Jack, and Joe. I knew I hated the looks of them, but it is nice to know they arent that great of trucks either!
The pete is one I would consider, but the whole squarish shape (you know, what makes them look great haha) is always making me wonder about the fuel economy factor of it.
Ive found lots of freghtliners in the 2000 range for pretty cheap too, but as far as I know they are more of a cheapy truck anyways.
Ive also noticed a few 2000 western stars for sale in ontario for pretty cheap. You guys know much about them?
Also, when talking about economy, can i expect the detroits to get about the best mileage? Thats what ive always found, and heard!
Cats, all around great engine, expensive to rebuild. Cummins, lots of low end, not quite as good as a cat, but alot cheaper to rebuild. Detroit, kinda gutless, not bad to rebuild, best on fuel..... That is my general thinking about em, what do you fellas think?
That's why I chose the Pete, because of the Detroit. You were asking for fuel economy. And the Volvo, because of the "aero" body. But with all that work done to it, be cautious, because it could have been abused. And it's gotta have more than 160,000 kms on it. I can understand new piggybacks and 4 wheels of brakes. But 4 new drive axle springs too? At 160,000 kms?
i was just saying their being honest about whats been done to it!
abused or not $10k is cheap! i've seen trucks in worse shape go for alot more than that!

I agree with that. Lots of new parts. Just consider yourself warned, you will be putting more new parts on it. 10 grand is cheap. If I had your ambition Sheldon, I'd probably jump on it.
Sherm, I havent checked into hotshotting. I dont know if they would accept my pickup now. Its an 03 and most of the time companies like that want a few year old trucks, but I guess it wouldnt hurt to check.
Ive been doing a little looking around and calling, but the companies I have called about how new a semi has to be, havent called back!
Thats one of my new pet peeves, people not calling back.
