Unhappy Still Need Remote Start Help

Well the info Techman gave fixed that problem. I thought I was good to go. Apparently not.

Everything is coming on now execpt the truck won't start.
Lights flash
Accessories come on
Blower comes
15 second delay
starter cranks but no ignition

The only thing I can't figure out is the lights on the instrument panel aren't coming on.
No wait to start, no air bag light, no engine symbol, etc.

It looks like every 8 Gauge wire on the ignition harness (the one that has the bolt in the middle) is tied in. Here is how I have it hooked up:

Remote Start wire_______Wire in truck ________ ___Location

Primary Harness
Red (12 volt Constant)_________Battery
Brown (horn) ________________Dark Blue___________Steering column
Black (Ground)_______________Dash frame bolt
White(light flash)_____________Brown______________Light Swich

Relay Satellite Wire (I think this is where my problem is)
Red(2 Wires-Relay Input)____(1)Yellow (1)Green/Purple____Ign. Harness
Purple(Starter)_____________DK Grn____________Starter side ign. harness
Green(Starter)_____________DK Grn_____________key side ign. harness
Orange(Accessory)_________Grn/yellow__________Ign. Harness
Pink(Ignition Output)________Blk/Red____________Ign. Harness
Pink/White( 2nd ing output)__Blue/Green_________Ign. Harness
Red/White (12 V input)______Yellow_____________Ign Harness

Remote Start Harness
Black/White(Neutral Safety)______grounded to dash frame
Violet/White(Tach input)_________Green/Wht *
*The end of this wire had 1 to 6 Volts AC under different rpm speed
Brown(brake)_______________Lt Grn___________Above brake pedal

I went through and did the tach learn also. I'm really stumped here. Any thoughts or suggestions??
Thanks Again,
Mike

Firstly, Are you sure its set for voltage start or to tach start. I think default is tach start.

The correct process to learn the tach is to have the little black button in the left hand, then start the truck with the right hand. As soon as you let go of the key as it returns back from "Start" you should press and hold the black button until the RS LED lights up solid. If the LED does not light up solid, it did not learn and you need to try again.

If you still do not get a solid LED light then or it still isnt starting, there is, on the RS unit, 2 jumpers. One is for the parking lights, the other is for the tach level threshold. Try switching it to low or hi, basically the opposite of what its set on now. I think they come set to hi but our trucks need the lo setting. If mine werent so burried under the dash Id look to see what mine is set too.

Let meknow if that helps you or not and we can go from there.

Also, since you are in NJ and it gets cold there, I would set the Start delay to 30 or 45 seconds. I have mine set too 45 and never had an issue.

That's what I did for the Tach learn. Just checked the install manual and tach engine check is the factory default on the RS not voltage.
I just came back in from changing the tach jumper and re-learned the tach. Still no good.

Another thing, when the system powers up and all the accessories come on, the blower still runs while the starter is cranking, could that wire be in the wrong place, because I know the radio cuts off when the starter engauges.
I also set the crank time for 4 seconds but it seem the RS is only cranking around 1 to 1.5 seconds.
I still don't understand why any of the dash lights aren't coming on, am I missing a wire?

Is the RS light coming up solid after you press and hold the button?

Are you sure that all 3 of the constant wires are getting 12v the whole time? (The red, red, and red/white wire)

As a test, change the setting on the truck for voltage start and set it to crank for5 secs or so. Let me know if that works or not.

Also, make sure there isnt more than one accessory. I cant remember off the top of my head. If there are 2, then make sure they are hooked up.

Are you sure that you didnt hook up one of the IGN wires on the RS to an accessory on the truck side? that is starting to sounds like what the problem is. If some of your dash lights are not lighting up yet your blower is on while cranking, then I think you have a wire wrong.

Alright, I changed the Tach sensor to voltage, that solved the length the starter runs issue. After disconnecting the hood switch and sticking my head in the engine compartment I found this.

When the RS engauges, the lights flash, access com on, I hear somthing push air from somewhere in the engine compartment......

However, the fuel pump does not prime itself, could the dash light and the fuel system be on the mystery wire I'm not hooked into?

The wire I am hooked into is BLK/Red the wiring diagram I am using says the wire should be WHT/Yellow or Red/Lt Green

The only Red/ Lt Green wire on the ignition harness is about a 16-18 gauge wire This can't be it. I don't see a larger gauge Wht/Yellow anywhere.

Any idea on which ignition wire controls the fuel pump and dash dummy lights? (color and location)

I really do appreciate all the help so far!!!!!!!

Well, I forgot to look before I started my errands and now its dark out and my flashlight charger came unhooked somehow. But I did sit in my truck during the remote start cycle and most of my dash lights were not on either including the glowplug light. But mine started.

Just go over all your IGN wiring and make sure it is correct. Ill try and look at mine tonight. The wife is whining about stupid stuff right now

check out in my gallery under 2001 superduty, there are some pics of ther wiring of my starter that i used awhile ago for someone. my tach wire does come from the back of the instrument cluster, i had to change one of the bulbs. and i confirmed thats where it gets the signal from. all the other wires should be in the pics.
cheers

Tecman: After reading everything you posted three or four time I went out and started to trace wires. Then it dawned on me, I knew which wires were turned on by the ignition switch, I just didn't know what they did.

So I built a heavy gauge probe and put power into it. I stuck it into each of the ignition wires, turns out that the red/black wire was for the blower, and that little itsy bitsy red/green wire that I said no way could it be it, was !!!! I put power into it, the dash gauges lit up fuel pump pressurized the rail and I knew I had it this time.

So I put the blower onto the right wire for the RS and gave her a try, started and died after 10 or seconds, tried it again with the same results. Light bulb lit up in my head, retrain the tach.(especially after figuring out that you already told me to set it to low voltage)

With the wires in the right place and the tach relearned, I pressed the little yellow button twice and held my breath.....Lights, blower comes on then shuts off, 15 sec delay........"Houston we have ignition" all systems come back on and no more freezing my tush off running out to start Big Red anymore.

Thank you for all the advice and answering all my question, I just wanted to try and get this posted before you went out and torn apart your truck to look for the wires.

Beerboy: Thanks for the link to your gallery, looking at the picture is what gave me the idea to start to probe the wires. In the one picture of your harness I can clearly see a White wire, I looked at my harness and mine was a Blue/Orange in the same spot, so I figure go fishing......

Thank you very much,
Mike
